2020 FOOTBALL FOR FRIENDSHIPWORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Back in 2018, as part of the Eco Initiative of the F4F programme, the International Teams of Friendship were named after the endangered animals for the very first time. We continue with this tradition in order to draw attention to the problem of animal extinction. You can help us raise awareness of this problem by placing a logo of one of the teams on your picture! Upload a photo with light areas, choose the position of the logo, then choose the animal, after that download your photo and finally use it on social networks and sites!

ABOUT FOOTBALL FOR FRIENDSHIP 2020

Football for Friendship (F4F) is an International Children’s Social Programme, that started in 2013. The goal of the programme is to support children’s and youth sports, to cultivate in the younger generation interest in a healthy lifestyle and to promote respect for representatives of different nationalities and cultures among them. Participants of the programme are Young Players and Young Journalists – girls and boys aged 12, including children with disabilities. Young Players are united into mixed teams, where they represent different countries, learn how to play together, and show what the world would be without war and discrimination. Young Journalists cover the events of the programme in the International Children’s Press Center and promote universal human values.

Over the course of the seven seasons of F4F, more than 6000 children from 211 countries and regions of the world have participated in the programme, more than 5 million people have taken part in sports, educational and ecological events of the programme around the world. The programme is supported by FIFA, UEFA, Olympic and Paralympic Committee, football federations, children’s foundations, hundreds of famous athletes, and thousands of journalists around the globe. The project has received many national and international awards in the field of social responsibility, sports, and communications.

The programme includes several large-scale events. One of them is the Football for Friendship World Championship, and the winners receive the main trophy: the Football for Friendship Cup.

INTERNATIONAL TEAMS OF FRIENDSHIP

International Teams of Friendship are teams of Young Players from participating countries and regions. The lineups are formed according to the F4F principle through the Open Draw. It means that players of different nationalities, gender, and physical abilities play in one team. We strongly believe that the F4F principle is the best way for children to discover the diversity of our world, learn about the traditions of different countries and cultures, and make new friends. Each Team of Friendship is guided by a Young Coach, who is also chosen randomly.

2020 Ecological Initiative

It is especially important for all Young Participants of F4F, not only to meet on the football field with their peers from different countries, but to participate and initiate different social activities promoting the Nine Values: friendship, equality, fairness, health, peace, devotion, victory, traditions, and honour.

For three years in a row, we are aiming to tell the world about the problem of animal extinction. To do this, 32 International Teams of Friendship are named after animals, listed in the Red List of Threatened Species.
